How Riverstone Powers Fund Reporting with InvestorVision
Riverstone Holdings, LLC, is a private markets asset management firm that invests primarily within energy, power and infrastructure. The firm turned to SS&C Intralinks InvestorVisionTM to streamline reporting for thousands of investors across dozens of funds.

Situation
Given the high posting volume of capital activity notices and quarterly financial and year-end tax reporting, maintaining efficient investor communications is crucial for Riverstone. As fund coordinator, Diana Greig manages the firm’s investor relations and communications, which includes building out data room exchanges for each fund. After 15 years of successfully using SS&C Intralinks VDRPRoTM for investor reporting, Greig decided to further streamline the firm’s reporting processes by adopting a purpose-built fund reporting solution.
Equally important to selecting the right platform, Greig needed a technology partner with the expertise to transfer 150,000 legacy documents, some of which were decades old. “We didn’t want our investors to lose access to any of their historical documents,” says Greig. Avoiding interruptions was critical, as the transition was set to take place during Riverstone’s peak reporting period.
Solution
Riverstone and its investors’ positive experiences with VDRPro led Greig to stay within the Intralinks ecosystem and choose InvestorVision as the firm’s new portal. The end-to-end fund reporting platform provides a secure interface where investors can access capital calls, distributions, quarterly reports, and tax and legal documents in one place, eliminating the need to toggle between exchanges.
“The drop-down menus are seamless,” says Greig. “They don’t have to exit the platform and re-enter — they can just filter and sort.” InvestorVision’s platform metrics allow Greig to track investor engagement and tailor content to meet their reporting needs.
Results
Despite taking place during tax reporting season, the upgrade went off without a hitch. “We actually flipped the switch the week before our busiest reporting season of the year, when virtually all our users would be signing in,” recalls Greig. “But it went very well — no complaints from anybody, which was pretty impressive.” Investors logged in with their existing Intralinks credentials and quickly adapted to the new system.
Like its investors, Riverstone has achieved significant efficiency gains. Critical components of Riverstone’s operations, such as tax and reporting workflows, now run more smoothly than ever. “We’ve noticed significant time savings,” says Greig. “Our quarterly reporting used to take a few days — now it’s done in a few hours. It’s much easier with InvestorVision.”
The migration successfully preserved Riverstone’s historical documents while ensuring uninterrupted access for investors. Today, InvestorVision supports over 2,600 investors, nearly 6,600 users and half a million documents across 63 active funds.
Benefits
Greig worked closely with Ted McCoy, Intralinks’ data upgrade specialist, to transfer the 150,000 legacy documents to InvestorVision. Together, they meticulously reviewed decades-old records that needed to be retained for compliance purposes. “I can’t even imagine it’s something we would have attempted on our own,” says Greig about how the process might have gone without McCoy’s help. “Ted really knew what he was doing. Everything went to the right place — it was surprisingly smooth.”
Trust and transparency are always top-of-mind for private equity investors. Providing easy access to current and historical fund data through InvestorVision is yet another way Riverstone creates a world-class investor experience. Using one intuitive platform for fund reporting, Riverstone and its investors now have more time to focus on creating value and cultivating stronger investment partnerships.
